Available in both non-ducted dust/heat shield and ducted brake cooling configurations, these backing plates are ideal for BMW E46 race cars, track builds and high-performance applications using STROM billet front uprights.

Designed for STROM Billet E46 Uprights

These brake backing plates have been engineered specifically around the mounting points found on STROM Motorsports Billet E46 Uprights.

Because the billet uprights use different mounting locations from the factory BMW components, these backing plates are not compatible with standard OEM E46 uprights or knuckles.

This dedicated design provides a clean and secure installation without the compromises associated with adapting universal brake backing plates.

Lightweight 6061 Aluminium Construction

Each backing plate is manufactured from 6061 aluminium, providing an excellent combination of low weight, strength and corrosion resistance.

All current production plates are supplied with a black anodised finish, providing additional surface protection while giving the components a clean, motorsport-inspired appearance.

Non-Ducted Dust & Heat Shield

The non-ducted version – STROM P/N 99.00141 – functions as a brake dust and heat shield.

It is positioned far enough away from the brake rotor to provide compatibility with factory rotors and virtually any known brake configuration when used with the STROM billet upright.

This version is ideal for customers who want a lightweight backing plate without adding dedicated brake cooling ducting.

3" Ducted Brake Cooling Version

For dedicated track and race applications, the ducted version provides a connection for 3-inch brake cooling ducting.

This allows cool air to be directed towards the brake assembly, making it an excellent option for vehicles subjected to repeated heavy braking during track days, time attack and circuit racing.

The ducted backing plate is positioned closer to the rotor and is guaranteed to fit with the Brembo 355mm brake system.

Available Versions

Non-Ducted Dust / Heat Shield – P/N 99.00141

The non-ducted version is spaced farther away from the rotor, providing broad compatibility with factory rotors and other brake configurations.

Ideal for performance builds where a conventional brake backing plate and heat shield is required without dedicated cooling ducting.

Ducted Brake Cooling Version

Designed for use with 3-inch brake ducting, allowing cooling air to be directed towards the braking system.

Because many aftermarket race brake kits use different rotor offsets compared with the factory E46 M3 brake setup, spacer adjustment may be required depending on your specific brake configuration.

Important Fitment Information

These backing plates are designed exclusively for STROM Billet E46 Uprights.

They use different mounting points from factory BMW E46 uprights and therefore will not fit standard OEM E46 knuckles/uprights.

For the ducted version, some brake configurations – including factory brake setups – may require the supplied spacers to be shortened to achieve the desired clearance.

3-inch brake ducting hose is not included.
